Introduction
Is it your dream as a senior mechanical engineer to build a new greenfield plant? Then this is your opportunity to become part of our global revolution in feed & food . The goal is to roll-out several production facilities worldwide in the coming years. We make this possible with an engineering team within Protix which is multidisciplinary in nature. To make this possible, specific equipment needs to be developed from concept to end use. You, in your role as senior mechanical engineer, will be part of the projects & technology team. This team’s goal, is to develop the new logistical concepts to make our global roll-out and scale-up goals possible. Your focus will be on developing new concepts in the domains of robotics, crate handling and mechanization concepts within our new insect rearing facilities.
Are you ambitious and do you want to be part of our mission and growth? Join us as our new Senior Mechanical Project Engineer and work for the future.
What will your mission be?
As Senior Mechanical Project Engineer you will be working in the Projects & Technology team and collaborate closely with other engineers and departments. Together with the rest of the engineering team you will focus on managing the technical aspects of large scale projects, such as designing and developing factory layouts, evaluating and integrating new logistical systems and check project deliverables from our engineering partners. These responsibilities cover all phases of development, from brainstorming and evaluating concepts through troubleshooting and support on the factory floor during and after commissioning.
What will be your responsibilities?
Our new Senior Mechanical Project Engineer is a pivotal addition to our team. With an eye for detail and a passion for innovation, they design and develop production systems used in our insect rearing facilities. Their expertise in evaluating and selecting new and existing technologies and equipment not only enhances production output but also optimizes capital expenditure efficiency.
They actively engage with technology suppliers to evaluate best practices and develop sustainable partnerships, which are essential for each new capital project. By contributing to large capital projects and integrating proprietary and third-party equipment, they strengthen our market position.
They have the ability to analyze and understand complex logistical simulations and provide input to build these models with external parties and develop improvements based on the simulation outputs. They are also adept at developing high-level cost estimates and providing multi-criteria analyses to select the best possible solution, balancing capital and operational expenses.
The quality and completeness of the design provided by our engineering consultants are ensured under their supervision. They align with key stakeholders such as JV partners, crate suppliers, steering committees, and operations to ensure that the design choices are consistent throughout the project.
They participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) to ensure that what is built and delivered meets all set requirements and design assumptions. They convert project ideas into modular and scalable blueprints for future facilities.
Our engineer maintains their professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. They contribute to the team effort by achieving related results as needed.
They actively search for the balance between in-house engineering and external expertise, manage the budget and timeline of their subprojects, and generate appropriate technical documentation, such as manuals, drawings, and diagrams. Their role is indispensable for the ongoing growth and success of our company.
Collaboration with colleagues from our R&D, Engineering and other departments is vital for staying at the forefront of industry advancements. The insect industry is a young and emerging market, where we still make giant leaps. As a Sr. Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be one of the frontrunners of a new industry.
